Reflection :
Throughout the Design Research Dissertation module, I went through a real journey of learning, growth, and patience with myself. At the beginning, the idea of completing a full dissertation felt quite overwhelming. There were so many parts to think about, from shaping my topic to writing and revising each section. But as the weeks went by, I slowly learned how to break everything into clearer steps, and that made the whole process feel more achievable.
Working on the draft dissertation was a big turning point. It forced me to properly organise my ideas instead of keeping them all in my head. Even though my first version had mistakes and areas that needed work, it helped me see where my arguments were weak or unclear. Getting feedback during this stage was really helpful. It reminded me that research is not meant to be perfect the first time, but something that improves through reflection and revision.
Creating the visual design publication was another valuable experience. It pushed me to think about how research can be communicated visually, not just through text. I became more aware of how layout, visuals, and presentation can support understanding. It also made me appreciate how design and research actually work together.
By the time I prepared the final dissertation for submission, I realised how much I had grown. I became more careful with my writing, especially when it came to referencing, originality, and clarity. The final stage made me feel like I was bringing everything together into one complete piece of work that I could be proud of.
Overall, this module has helped me develop not only as a student, but also as a researcher and designer. I learned to manage a long term project, accept feedback positively, and reflect honestly on my progress. Most importantly, I started to see research as a meaningful process of discovery, rather than just an assignment to complete.
