7 Principles in Poster Designing

1. Emphasis

There is primary focus on the subject of the content.

2. Balance Alignment

Elements are evenly distributed and is placed in an eye pleasing way.

3. Contrast

Contrast creates a 'pop' in a design. It builds dimension and space in the art as it makes colours pop because there is clear contrast.

4. Repetition

Repetition often unifies a design, making sure it shares the same message and value. It makes an artwork hold its ground while still keeping an eye catching design.

5. Proportion

Proportion is the overall size off how the elements fit in a page. A proper proportion has an evenly distributed spacing between each element so it doesn't overpower one another.

6. Movement

An element will be placed in a catchy location to guide the viewers eye and help them see the perspective the creator presented.

7. White Space

Also known as negative space is the empty space surrounding a subject. It gives room for a composition to breathe and have more focus on it.

Project 1 B - Recolouring Black & White

Part 1 - Recolouring , The Breakdown

In this assignment we were taught on how to colour a back and white white photo to a coloured version of it. We used the Photoshop App and was guided through a video and slides.

First , we downloaded the photo and placed it in Photoshop

Next , I had to choose the foreground colour and colour the skin to apply it. I change the blending mode to soft light and adjust its opacity for a more realistic look. I continue to d the same to the rest of the elements in the photo.

After that its, time to change the background. I first create a new layer and then choose a different foreground colour.

Then , with the brush tool I select the places that I want the background to be and later on mask it

After adjusting its opacity and blending mood I get my final work.

Part 2 : The Breakdown

Here we had to attempt in recolouring a black and white photo in a more advanced pace.

First we had extract elements we wanted to use from different photos and take out the reference colours we wanted to use.

First, I manually selected the hair and created a layer mask for the hair department. Then, i dragged it to its own layer to colour it. I repeated this step with the models other features and elements.

Hair :

Skin :

Lips :

Teeth and Pearl :

Shirt :

Eyes :

Then for the background I selected the subject and inverted it , then repeated the same process as the above.
