Task 2 ( Editorial Text )
Lectures :
Week 5 : This weeks lecture delves into the intricacies of type design, emphasizing key aspects such as symmetry, stroke weight, and the significance of counter forms in ensuring readability. One of the primary focuses is understanding the distinction between letter symmetry and the actual design nuances that can affect visual perception. The Baskerville and Univers typefaces are highlighted as prime examples of unique stroke treatments, showcasing how individual characteristics of each letterform contribute to the overall character of a typeface. Furthermore, the lecture discusses the importance of optical adjustments in achieving balanced letter forms. Designers often modify stroke weights and shapes to create an optical illusion of symmetry, which enhances both visual appeal and functionality. Additionally, it touches on the importance of analyzing existing typefaces is emphasized, as it allows aspiring designers to grasp conventions and develop their own unique styles.

- I received some feedback on my designs. For my figure 1.1 and figure 1.2 , I was told it was a bit childish and I needed to look at more reference photos. She said that I should go for something thats pleasing to the eye not too much on it as the title of an article says a lot about its body.
- Next she told me to put more emphasis on the word 'code' as its the main factor of the article.
- I was corrected on the title as I had put the wrong word in. It being "Code to Build and Live by " not " Code to Build and Live On "

Week 6
General : Ms. Vityaa made sure we were done submitting our task 1 portfolio and help us helped us check for any errors. We didn't get to brush much on task 2 since most of us were still correcting our 'Helvetica' Assignment, making sure it met the requirements. She asked us to print our task 2 in an A3 paper for more thorough inspection and prepare some materials for next weeks class.
Specific : Ms. Vitiyaa reviewed my Helvetica Compositions and choose the best one to be refined. She also gave me some feedback on how to improve the rest and gave me a small explanation on how to use the golden ration more thoroughly. I didn't have many orphans or widows that needed to be corrected :). I stated to do task 2 after getting my Helvetica approved till the end of class.
Week 7 :
General : Ms. Vityaa said nothing much as she was busy checking everyone's task 2 progress as it had to be handed in today ( 5/11/2024). She mentioned to start progressing on our task 3 during Independence Learning Week by following the video provided. If we were to have any question we are to message her.
Specific : Ms. Vitiyaa reviewed my task 3 and gave me some feedback and praised my layout. She said I focused too much on the wrong one word and should go for something more chic and elegant. After being put on the right track, I showed her my design and she was pleased with the improvement and gave me some feedback on some hypanated words that I had missed.
Experience : For my part, I thoroughly loved this assignment. I experimented and tried a lot of compositions using the Golden Ratio Rule as I grew more accustomed to InDesign. The fact that Ms. enjoyed my Bauhaus drafts shocked and delighted me. It was also a lot of fun to conduct visual study, which helped me understand the topic better. In an attempt to push myself beyond my comfort zone, I used snap guides to rotate texts for formatting, making sure that each text was aligned and rotating in the same direction.
Observation : I noticed that I needed to adequately ensure that the words had more kernings and weren't overly crowded. The design ought to be self-evident. I believe that when creating text compositions, we must always conduct preliminary study on the subject matter in order to determine the emotions we wish to convey in the finished product. I found that the way words and text are positioned and rotated can significantly alter the overall effect.
Findings : I discovered that in order to make the words appear less crowded and dispersed, I needed to make all of the kernings appear almost identical and consistent if I wanted to create a more tidy and clean appearance. After seeing that several of my earlier manuscripts lacked regular and equal paragraph spacing, making them somewhat disorganized and containing some strange-looking blank spaces, I made the necessary changes to make them easier for readers to read.
