Task 3 : Illustrated Typography Poster
This project submission is for both IVN & DPI module. However, marks for the text, vector graphics and typography of the poster is for IVN module and DPI module focuses on our composition using elements of photography.
We had to create an A4 sized poster using a daily Quote we like.
I chose: "Wonder if you look both ways when you cross my mind".
Week 7 :
In our this week class, our lecturer had taught us how to use the intertwine tool making our work have a more 3-D look. He also showed us how to create a gradient and use 3-D Materials in our work.
During our Independent Study Week I tried doing some of the exercises that was given in our Lab 3
I also started doing my sketch for our task.
Week 9 & 10
After getting my sketch reviewed, my lecturer informed me that the composition was very messy and didn't have any sense of direction With this I did more research and produced 3 more sketches.

My lecturer really liked my third sketch so I carried along with illustrating it on Adobe Illustrator.
This was what I produced after selecting one sketch to focus on.After getting revised by my lecturer, he recommended me to envelope distort the words not create it using the pen tool for a better and smoother look.
Process of distorting the font to the shape of my choosing. I did the rest with each letter.
For the word cross I experimented with using the grain effect but it was too eye catching making the overall composition very overwhelming. I did a simple font with an outline but I didn't want it to look alike with the font above it. Adding a gradient and a white outline helped it stand out but not too much that it steals the spotlight.
The the above phrase I had already planned for it to be simple but to my surprise the term simple can mean many things, thus I tried the ones I think would suit it the best.
SUBMISSION :
Final Work
This striking poster features the thought-provoking quote, "Wonder if you look both ways when you cross my mind," rendered in bold, elegant typography against a backdrop that combines the metaphorical and the literal. The design evokes the feeling of a fleeting thought—one that you can’t quite grasp, yet feels just within reach. The backdrop might is an image of the sky to represent the height of ones imagination can go hen they have the right inspiration. The background and bold lettering create a striking visual contrast, immediately drawing the viewer's attention to the central message. The inclusion of delicate flowers in the design adds a touch of softness and beauty to the overall composition. The flowers, with their vibrant colors and intricate details, create a sense of tranquility and hope. They serve as a visual metaphor for the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. The open-ended question posed by the text encourages viewers to reflect on their own habits and behaviors, prompting them to consider whether they always take the necessary precautions.
