TITLE: The Sky’s the Starting Point

I chose to explore surrealism in my artwork because it allowed me to express my ideas in a unique and imaginative way. Surrealism’s blending of reality and dreamlike elements helped me convey complex concepts that are hard to express through more traditional styles. My goal was to communicate the idea that growth comes not only from setting new goals but also from appreciating the talent and progress around us.

In my piece, I wanted to show that true growth involves a balance: the drive to push forward and the openness to learning from others. To grow, we need to gain new perspectives and be receptive to fresh knowledge. I aimed to symbolize how embracing new ideas and appreciating the world around us can enhance our personal and creative journeys. By using surrealism, I was able to depict these ideas in a way that reflects both the unpredictability and beauty of growth.

In my artwork, I explore the theme of personal growth through the lens of surrealism, a style that allows me to express complex ideas in a unique and imaginative way. Surrealism’s blending of reality and dreamlike elements perfectly mirrors the complexities of life and growth, which are difficult to convey through more traditional forms of art. The planets in my piece represent the various goals I have in life, each symbolizing a different aspiration. The blue planet stands for my emotional relationships, while the red symbolizes both my mental and physical health, as well as my ambition. The orange planet reflects my capacity for indulgence, and the white planet represents my sense of self-worth. These planets, with their differing colors and forms, embody the multifaceted nature of my goals and ambitions.

The air vehicles in my artwork further illustrate the people I encounter on my journey. The hot air balloon represents talented individuals who pass through my life, leaving a lasting impact, while the jet symbolizes rude people who, despite their harshness, I can’t help but care for. The helicopter represents the everyday, ordinary people I meet and interact with. The central hole in the composition represents the hollowness I sometimes feel as a growing individual, still studying and finding my place in the world. This emptiness reflects the tension between striving for new goals and the challenges of self-discovery.

Through this surrealistic approach, my goal was to convey that growth is not only about setting new goals, but also about learning from others and embracing new perspectives. True growth requires a balance: the drive to push forward and the openness to learning from the world around us. By combining surrealism with these symbolic elements, I aimed to capture the unpredictability and beauty of personal development, highlighting how both external influences and inner ambitions shape our creative and personal journeys.
