REFLECTION :
From all the projects we have been tasked with for the past 6 weeks, I can proudly say that I have acquired a new set of skills. My knowledge on Adobe Photoshop has immensely increased as most of our tasks were centered around it. Besides that, my knowledge on composition and design elements have gotten an upgrade. This is because I feel that learning a new person’s set of aesthetics widens my knowledge on design.
The more people I learn from, the wider my skill set will increase.
In our second task we were tasked to create a digital collage and this began my journey in learning more about Adobe Photoshop. We were introduced to 4 important tools which were the blending modes, layering, masking and paths. Besides that, I had to get used to using the pen tool as I have been used to only creating art with my hands. Using the pen tool was tricky but with time I had gotten used to it. My lecturer provided me with many tutorials on how to use the tools besides a demonstration in class. With this I had fun creating my first artwork using Photoshop and learned other shortcuts that made using Photoshop way easier. The tool that I found the most useful to learn was the masking tool as without it I would not be able to finish my work.
Our next task consists mainly of Digital Imaging, it began with a more advanced guide through Photoshop as we were tasked to manipulate ourselves in a photo. We had to practice on Shazam first and were guided through video and slides which I found very helpful. Through this, I learned more on the Selection Tool, Blending tool, Layer Mask tool, Brush Tool and applying Filters to create a more realistic product. The blur tool really made the reflection I created look more realistic and the brush tool helped create a perfect shadow. Next we had to turn a black and white photo into a coloured one and were guided through video and slides. Thanks to the exercise above , it was an easy process. Viewing a reference photo really helped picturing the coloured one I was about to make. After trying out more than 2 photos , I had slowly gotten the hang of it.
My overall reflection of the past 6 weeks really has impressed me as I did not realize I have learned many things until summarizing it. I also gained a new respect for the weekly due dates we had , as it really helped not procrastinate my work but still gave me time to really think about my work. The slides and video provided were very clear and really guided through every step when I was lost. I'm really glad to be able to learn more principles of designs, Photoshop skills, composition elements and many more in this class.
